Why Eating Intuitively?

I saw the articles. I watched the “Today” show interview. I bought the book. Now, I want to give it a try. I have read about two-thirds of “Intuitive Eating: A Revolutionary Program That Works” by Evelyn Tribole, M.S., R.D. & Elyse Resch, M.S., R.D. F.A.D.A. I am learning that it is truly a way of eating for life. It will require some adjustment, but it is time to make a change.

I am a 33 year-old male. I’m 5’10″ and I weigh about 350 lbs. This is the most I have weighed in my life. I have tried other diets, and I have lost weight just to see it return (plus a few extra pounds).

I really liked low-carb eating for a long time, and it worked until it stopped working. Maybe I got lazy with it, or maybe I got tired of denying myself certain food. I have thought that I would try to be better at eating low-carb and try the Induction phase again. However, I was very intrigued by the “Intuitive Eating” idea, and I want to give it a try. After all, I figure that it is similar to the way I would eat, once I had lost all my weight on low-carb.

I want to finish the book first, then I am going to start introducing this way of eating into my life. I am thinking this will start at the beginning of the year. So, I guess this could be called a New Year’s Resolution, but, at this point in my life, I really want a permanent solution.

I am starting this blog, because I hope it can be a tool to keep me on track and help me work through the transformation to eating intuitively. Perhaps, by sharing my experience, someone else will be inspired to eat intuitively. Let’s see what happens.
